Key Investment Pieces to Shop

Whether you’re bargain hunting this Black Friday, gift shopping for someone special this Christmas, or looking for something to invest into for yourself around this time of year- I hope this blog post will help you out. I wanted to briefly share with you some of the pieces that I have personally tried, tested & invested into since it is the time of year that we are spending the most.

I’m mentally preparing myself for all of the temptations and discount codes that will be thrown around over the next week. While I’m on that subject actually, I have a blog post all about best practises for Black Friday shopping and shopping in general at this time of year coming on Sunday. But this post is going to focus solely on pieces that I genuinely feel are worth the money – whether you have a discount code or not.

Key Investment Pieces to Shop

Burberry Scarf

One of the most timeless and most recognisable accessories ever has got to be the Burberry scarf. I nearly fell off my chair two years ago when my Dad gave me mine for my 25th birthday. It was genuinely the last thing that I expected, but I couldn’t have been happier. I feel as though this is an incredible gift, because every Autumn / Winter when you reintroduce it into your wardrobe, the excitement to wear it comes flooding back- well it does for me anyway!

Gucci Loafers

I adore mine so much, I have worn them to death since I got them in February. A family friend has had a pair for over 30 years, so when it comes to timelessness and durability, you know you’re on to a winner with these. They’re not cheap by any means, but they are well worth the money in my opinion. They instantly elevate an outfit.

Strathberry Bag

This is an incredible quality bag brand without the hefty price tag. The attention to detail and the durability is just second to none in my opinion. I purchased an East/West Mini for myself at the start of the year and I am still so in love with it.
I have other bags that I invested into, but designer handbags are tricky to talk about because there’s no denying how insanely expensive some of them can be. For this reason I think that everyone’s dream bag is going to be different. It’s certainly not something that you should allow yourself to be easily influenced into buying. I’m more than happy to recommend Strathberry though because they are that bit more affordable and the quality is just brilliant in my opinion.

A Camel Coat

A classic staple in any wardrobe has to be a longline camel coat. You’ll know by now that I lived in mine last winter, and am continuing to do so this year. I feel like I could be wearing anything, and my camel coat will instantly elevate my outfit- I love it so much when I find something that does that for me. I got mine in Massimo Dutti last year but there are so many great options out there at the moment.

A Leather Jacket

An All Saints leather jacket is on the top of my to-buy list this year. I know that there will be great discounts in store and online. I know my size & I’m very much ready to go. This is probably going to be one of the few things that I purchase this year. A black leather jacket is completely and utterly timeless, something that I know I will year over year for the foreseeable future. I would highly recommend considering one.

Lounge Wear & Sleep Wear

I mentioned before on Instagram that I was on the look out for some really good quality lounge wear to have for the days that I work from home. The recommendations came flooding in and Calvin Klein and Lucy Nagle were definitely top of the list. Quality is key with loungewear because you need it to be soft and something that will wash well. Sleep wear is another one that I think is such a luxury to invest into. I recently got a pair of pyjamas from PJ Salvage from Brown Thomas, and I swear I have been sleeping better because of them. I know that sounds ridiculous, but the fabric is so breathable and warm at the same time, I feel like I’m being hugged while I nod off!

Luggage

Whether it’s for yourself, or someone else- everyone needs good quality luggage. I adore my trusty Samsonite case that I picked up in Kildare Village earlier this year. I would be lying if I said it didn’t bring the overwhelming urge to book more holidays/trips than I could afford!

Kildare Village

Kildare Village is a brilliant place to visit if you want to shop around in terms of brilliant premium brands in one place. There are so many amazing stores on offer that have quality pieces for a fraction of their recommended retail price.

Check out their collection of stores here.

Technology & Electronics

This time of the year is a key time to think about spending your money on different tech bits & bobs, or on appliances. I know that my GHD straightener and curler are two things that I couldn’t live without. They’re not cheap, but they literally last for years.

Also, over on my Instagram, I’m teaming up with Currys PC World to tell you all about some of their great deals around this time of the year. Some of the ones that stood out to me were their savings on the Samsung S4 Tablet, wireless Beats headphones, KitchenAids, and the LG Smart TV. There is much more of course, but these are just different things that do ultimately cost a lot if you decide to invest at some stage, so it’s a good idea to consider them now while they’re on offer.

If I spot any discount codes for any of these items over the next few days, I will be sure to let you know. Stay tuned to my Instagram as that will most likely be the first place I share these things.

Have a wonderful weekend,

Niamh xx
