Playing Catch Up

Hello hello hello. It feels so good to finally be sitting down to write this blog post. I feel as though in recent weeks I have been playing a game of catch up. When it come to the blog and my social media, I wish I could be the most organised and consistent person out there, but that will never (ever) be me. I’ll explain everything…

Ok, so in terms of a little update…coming into 2018 I said to myself that each week I would share at least 2 videos and 3 blog posts. HAHAHA! I must have been dreaming. I wish that this could be my reality, but to be honest, the amount of work that goes on behind the scenes to make this amount of content possible is just colossal. It’s definitely doable, if you’re dedicated, but if you don’t have 100% of your time to dedicate to it then I just don’t see how this is feasible.

As of November of last year, the blog was no longer my full time focus. I would say job, but lets call a spade a spade, there is no way I could call this my job – I make a minuscule amount of money off my platforms, but you already know this. I could count on one hand the amount of #ad’s I have done in the last 6 months (sad times, but we’ll move on).

I quit my job and left New York in September, and honestly I haven’t looked back since, except for a few odd evenings when I miss the highlights of those two years. I do need to remind myself though that these were highlights, and not my day-to-day. I realise now that I genuinely was not happy in my job and coming home really gave me the chance to figure out what was next for me. I spoke about how I felt at the time in this post. Serious side note – having the blog is so cool for me to able to go back and reference how I was feeling about something at a given time, you really forget certain things so easily, I love having this little space of mine.

Anyway, back to last November. So I started this new thing that I’m doing. I’ll talk about it properly when I’m finished it in a few months – you will understand why when I do eventually spill the beans. I know it’s annoying to even reference it if I’m not going to fully explain, but I’ve had a handful of questions literally asking “what are you up to” and I laughed when I realised that from the outside looking in, and if you didn’t know me personally very well, then you wouldn’t know. So just to be clear, I’m not just chilling with Geoff and Harry on the couch all day long, as much as I would love to – haha! I will also say that I have never before in my life been so interested and felt so happy in how I spend every single day. I’m not making a cent, but this is just what I’m doing right now and I’m glad I’m in a position to personally sustain myself while I’m doing it. (Have you seen my YouTube video on how to save money?! Plug plug plug!)

I really started to panic after a few weeks of being home. I knew I could have started looking for jobs in my field, but I knew in my gut that I would not be happy if I did this.

I guess the point of this post is to just provide a little bit of motivation if you are feeling like you’re in a bit of a rut, unhappy in your job, your relationship or in your day-to-day life. I was on that level a few months ago. The guilt of leaving New York, the supposedly best city in the world, to come home with no set plan REALLY caught up on me. I’m not exaggerating when I say that I was so down about it, I kept referring to it as my quarter life crisis – lol! I’m also fully aware that having a problem like that made me very lucky, there are far worse things that I could have been worrying about – I know that first hand! But at that time I felt like I was in such a rut and if this is you now, don’t downplay it. Your life is your life and you should be happy about how you spend each day. I used to always say “but who actually likes their job”, well a lot of people do and I wanted to be one of those people. So now I’m doing something that is going to enable me to be that person. Woo!

I wanted to share the below videos as I found them really helpful in terms of focusing me and lifting my mood when necessary over the last couple of months. I promise they are worth your time, promise!

Anyway, I just wanted to check back in to update you on where I’m at right now. In terms of what you can expect from me, I’m still posting away regularly on Instagram, and there will be something every week on the blog or on my YouTube channel.

Thank you so much for reading, and the continued support xxx
