I love adding raspberries to my smoothies to get that gorgeous pinky red colour. I find them a bit bitter sometimes though, so I’m delighted I got this recipe just right – it’s perfectly smooth & sweet!
If I’m not mixing in a frozen banana to give a smoothie that extra sweet kick which I love, then it’s always some coconut milk or maybe an extra dollop of almond butter. I went with some frozen banana this time to bring down the temperature as I had no ice.
Raspberries are packed with Vitamin C and actually have more antioxidants than blueberries – which was news to me! You can substitute out the Ground Flaxseed for Linseed if you like, I get mine in Aldi and it’s so cheap and great for adding to smoothies or porridge to pack in the superfood punch! It’s generally loaded with goji berries, sesame seeds and plenty more depending on which variety you go for, so it’s a winner in my eyes.
I also added some Hemp too – with 10grams of protein per serving its super for balancing out the raspberry smoothie macronutrient profile. You can get this in any good Tesco or any health food store. You could also sub it out for a scoop of vanilla protein powder if you like.
- 1 cup of raspberries (frozen if possible)
- 1/2 a frozen banana
- 1 tablespoon of Ground Flaxseed or Linseed (I generally just add these to thicken my smoothies up & of course for the added health benefits)
- 1 tablespoon of Hemp
- 1 cup of almond/coconut milk
- Just blend it all up in the Nutribullet and serve. I've topped mine off with some mashed up raspberry to make it look nice 🙂
